Ecco cosa penso del nuovo film di Nolan. Buona lettura.


Let's face it now: Inception can be considered, now, Christopher Nolan's masterpiece and the most important science fiction films of recent years.

Inspirations declared by the director, there are: Matrix, The Thirteenth Floor, Dark City in the first place. All films focusing on the theme of dualism between reality and simulation, loss of consciousness and identity confusion. In reality, it could also disturb the excellent Strange Days, the short but successful thematically very similar The Cell or even romantic Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind di Michel Gondry (che ha nella sua filmografia anche un titolo indicativo come L’arte del sogno). Tuttavia, non si commetta l’errore di considerare Inception una riattualizzazione fuori tempo massimo del filone realtà simulata, tanto in voga fra la fine dei Novanta e i primi dei Duemila. Siamo infatti di fronte ad un reale spostamento in avanti della frontiera fantascientifica al cinema, azzardo che il sopravvalutato Avatar aveva tentato su base tecnologica e che invece Nolan ha vinto sul piano di scrittura e regia.

Il suo ultimo film, oltre ad essere tecnicamente eccellente (con effetti speciali e trovate visive spettacolari), è anche un perfetto meccanismo ad incastro, un gioco di dilatazioni temporali e variazioni spaziali per livelli che intriga, coinvolge e convince. La riflessione sui confini percettivi del reale si arricchisce di tutte le sfumature fornite dall’elemento onirico, il quale si rivela tanto più potente ed incontrollabile quanto più i protagonisti sono sicuri di esserne padroni al punto di poterlo indurre e di guidare a proprio piacimento. Il finale poi, con quella sua ambiguità sapientemente voluta, insinua un dubbio così atroce nel pubblico che renderebbe angosciante qualsivoglia morale – sebbene riteniamo che gli elementi forniti dal film stesso, e soprattutto proprio dalla sequenza finale, sciolgano la sospensione in favor of a precise -. Ultimately, Inception is what you dream of a good director can do when he has a huge budget provision. And maybe it happened a bit 'more often.
